The Fika Emirate is a traditional state with headquarters in Potiskum, Yobe State, Nigeria The old Fika Emirate was a multi-ethnic emirate that according to tradition dates back to the 15th century. The Bole people, already converted to Islam, were said to have moved to the current location from a settlement named Daniski in 1805. The headquarters of the emirate was moved from Fika town to Potiskum in 1924.
His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammadu Abali Ibn Muhammadu Idrissa Is the 13th and Current Emir Of Fika. Muhammad Abali was born in Potiskum on 14 August 1956, the eldest son of Alhaji Abali Ibn Muhammadu, the 12th Emir. He attended Kaduna Capital School (1963– 1969), Barewa College, Zaria (1970– 1974) and Land Dowel Tutors College in the United Kingdom (1975–1977). He went on to North Staffordshire Polytechnic (1977–1980) earning a bachelor’s degree in Modern Studies.[1] He then attended the City University London, gaining a master’s degree from the Department of Sociology in 1983.

The durbar provides a forum for traditional leaders to discuss issues of common interest for the peaceful co-existence of their various communities. This explains why the durbar is usually organized on important occasions like Sallah Celebration, turbaning ceremonies of traditional title holders as well as when honouring important visitors.
Other notable features of the State’s Cultural Heritage are the Bade Fishing and Cultural Festival which takes place annually in Jakusko Local Government Area, the Machina Cultural Festival, Kampti Festival in Fika and the Barakau in Nangere Local Government Area of the State.
